January 15, 1936
In the middle of a cold Chicago winter, snowy and blowy and cold. A boy child was born in Evanston Hospital to Florence (Arns) Spitzer and Charles Robert (Bob) Spitzer of Wilmette, Illinois. Their third child that they named Ronald Arns Spitzer. Ronnie joined an eight year -old sister, Virginia (Ginny), and 2 1/2 year-old brother, Charles Robert (Bobby) Spitzer, Jr.
It was in the height of the Great Depression. The world was in turmoil and unemployment was high. Bob and Florence worked for the Chicago, North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad (North Shore Line). Dad was a Conductor and Mother was a Secretary. The pay wasn't very high. But enough for them to support a family. Dad was always proud that he held a steady job through the depression.

wow. this is really great grandpa. Especially since I never got to meet your parent's or get to know them. I never knew your mom's name was Florence or your middle name. I think this is awesome, I am so proud of you for doing this.
